Founder Dirtbag Climbing

Bridger Hoogeveen

Bridger grew up in Puerto Rico. His family moved to the island in 2014 as missionaries, and he lived through Hurricanes Irma and Maria and the COVID lockdowns there. His first real climb, in shoes and a harness, was on a cruise ship wall in the Caribbean in 2020, where he broke the speed record for his age group. Back home during lockdown, he built a backyard wall from pallets and rocks that led to the roof, where he would stargaze and do schoolwork.

Dirtbag Climbing is the bigger version of that wall: a place for community, culture, climbing, and coffee, rooted in the island that raised him.

"My resources were small, but the stoke was huge."

"It's about the people. It's about the bonds you build, the memories you make, and the places climbing takes you."

"That's the energy I want for the gym: no bad vibes."

Why Dirt Bag?

Dirtbag, noun. A climber who sleeps in the car.

Someone who trades comfort for more time on the rock. We kept the name and built the door: for the regulars, the first-timers, and the kids who have never touched a wall.

Welcoming with purpose, rooted in Puerto Rico.

A place that feels like Puerto Rico.

The vibes are right, and the culture is everything.
